Trump Launches New Division to Uphold Second Amendment Rights

The Trump Administration has struggled with gun owners.  Seen, rightfully so, as wishy washy on gun rights despite campaign promises. The administration is looking to right the ship and bolster their bone fides by establishing a 2^nd Amendment Rights Division within the DOJ.  This was announced by Reuters. It is a fair question for gun owners of what can we make of this?     

There is some legitimate questions about whether or not this is a stunt.  The DOJ under Pam Bondi has been less than stellar when it comes to 2A issues.  For every good stance they take there is 3 bad ones it seems.  When it comes to whether or not this DOJ has been the best on firearms in the last at least 50 years the answer is technically yes, but the bar is so low it almost doesn’t count.

President Trump and his administration seem to understand this and are at least acknowledging their weakness on this issue with this move.  The big question for us gun owners will be is this just lip service or will the newly established division have actual teeth?  Will Pam Bondi and her Justice Department listen to this division and ask for legitimate advice?  Also, who will be running and inside this division?

All these questions need to be addressed and, in our opinion here at 2 If By Sea Tactical, be corrected.  The time is now to press forward on gun rights issues as we are only guaranteed what we have today.  With a slim majority in both chambers of Congress, the White House, and a Conservative Supreme Court (which has also been disappointing on 2A issues) we must press forward and restore rights now not later.

We applaud President Trump for establishing this Division (something that should have been done a long time ago) but urge him to ensure they actually follow through.  It would not be a bad move to establish a Division in the DOJ for every civil right to ensure that all Americans are protected.  The sad reality is that this Division will more than likely be shutdown as soon as Democrats regain power.     

This does underscore the need for actual lasting change.  We encourage this Administration to restore rights and roll back the unconstitutional infringements that we have endured for nearly a century.  If they do this, they not only will win over gun owners, one of the largest voting groups in America, but will go down as perhaps the greatest Administration since Thedore Roosevelt.  Coming into an election year, if Republicans would like to increase their majorities they can do so by showing gun owners they care about them.
