With Shot Show 2026 in the rearview mirror, we here at 2 if By Sea Tactical can take a moment and reflect on what was unveiled.  There, as always, are so many different technologies and advancements unveiled at each show, it is impossible to cover them all.  Shot Show is one of the largest trade conventions in the world with over 13.9 miles of aisles to cover.  One of the firearms that made an appearance was the Zev Technologies and Magpul collaborative effort the FDP folding pistol or SBR system.

This is such a unique design and another entry into the growing field of deployable PCC’s (Pistol Caliber Carbine).  Since the introduction of Flux Defenses Raider platform, several companies have been working on ways to field their own version of a collapsible folding pistol caliber system.  These serve two main purposes.

First, giving the user great stability with three points of contact, while not sacrificing carrying ability and easy of mobility.  One of the great drawbacks to handguns, is the lack of stability and decreased accuracy at distance.  This often leaves lots of missed opportunities to use the various pistol calibers on the market to their fullest potential.  The PCC is designed to unlock those abilities and give the shooter greater accuracy and distance.

Second, the collapsible PCC, allows the shooter to conceal this increase in fire power by maintaining a low profile often either fitting inside a waistband holster (The Flux system) or a backpack (the FDP system.  The FDP, is designed to fold up into a small, compact form when not being used.  When folded, it looks more akin to a 1980’s video camera than a firearm.

This allows it to be carried while not alerting those around the shooter what they have.  Zev and Magpul are no stranger to great innovations.  The FDP is no exception here.  When collapsed, the entire operating system fits within the overall chassis while maintaining spring tension allowing the shooter to deploy the whole system with a push of a button.

One of the most innovative features of the FDP, is that a loaded magazine can be stored in the pistol grip, ready to charge upon deployment.  This again increases the speed in which the platform can be deployed and used in a time of need.  While such a system is often a novelty for most, it is a fun piece that shooters can use at the range.

There is also potentially a market in the private security or law enforcement sector for undercover work, or within vehicles.  Once folded, the FDP does not take up much in the way of space making it easy to either conceal or stow within a vehicle.  It does offer a wide range of options for future uses.  This is one of those unique items that we here at 2 If By Sea Tactical are looking forward to offering to customers and shooting ourselves.  It was a highlight of Shot Show and one of the many unique firearms to be featured in 2026.  Stay tune to our “Patriots Almanac” and our Youtube Channel for more updates on Shot Show 2026!
