Newly released Department of Justice files tied to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation reveal that former New York City mayor and prominent gun-control advocate Michael Bloomberg appeared repeatedly in communications involving Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Credit for uncovering and analyzing these connections goes to Stephen Gutowski of The Reload, whose review of the DOJ document release identified numerous references to Bloomberg in emails and invitations connected to Epstein’s network.  As previously covered, Gutowski has gathered a complicated history of Jeffrey Epstein and the Gun Industry showcasing how far Epstein’s tentacles reached into American Society.

What the Files Show

According to Gutowski’s reporting, the emails do not contain direct evidence of criminal wrongdoing by Bloomberg, nor do they show that he traveled on Epstein’s aircraft or visited Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

However, the files indicate direct contact between Epstein’s and Maxwell’s associates and Bloomberg’s assistants. Multiple invitations extended to Bloomberg for private gatherings at Epstein’s home. Invitations sent to Epstein for events hosted by Bloomberg. Possession of Bloomberg’s personal contact information, including his home address, within Maxwell’s correspondence.

In one 2012 email, Epstein discussed inviting Bloomberg to a private meeting and expressed concern about discretion, indicating a desire to limit broader awareness of the invitation. Publicly available records have previously shown that Epstein described himself as “a long-time supporter of Bloomberg” and backed some of Bloomberg’s political initiatives. The newly released emails add further context to the scope of their overlapping social circles.

Events and Invitations

The DOJ files reportedly include invitations placing Epstein and Bloomberg at overlapping high-profile events in New York and abroad.  This included, private dinners with political and financial figures, fundraisers, film premiere events, art exhibitions, and cocktail receptions.

In several instances, it remains unclear whether Bloomberg attended events where Epstein was present or vice versa. The files do not confirm that Bloomberg visited Epstein’s residence. Bloomberg has not publicly commented in response to requests referenced in the reporting.

Context for Gun Owners

Everytown For Gun Safety Anto-Gun Group

Bloomberg is widely known in the firearms policy arena as the co-founder of Everytown for Gun Safety, one of the most influential gun-control advocacy organizations in the country. At 2 If By Sea Tactical, , we believe transparency matters— it doesn’t matter if it is from Minnesota since we are located here, or when it involves public figures who play a significant role in shaping national firearm policy.

The reporting by Stephen Gutowski and The Reload highlights how deeply intertwined powerful political, financial, and social networks can be, even after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

The released documents also indicate that Epstein and Maxwell owned firearms at various times and that Epstein reportedly maintained numerous firearms at his New Mexico property—even after his conviction.

Notably, however, the files reveal little evidence of direct involvement by Epstein in organized gun policy debates. There is no indication of donations to major gun-rights organizations or to Bloomberg’s gun-control groups within the materials reviewed.

One email referenced a solicitation for a donation to Americans for Responsible Solutions (later renamed Giffords), but there is no confirmed record of Epstein contributing.

Why This Reporting Matters
