Hungary is not often known for its firearm innovations.  However, the country has a long history of arms production dating back centuries.  Many of their arms have become collectable over the years for their roles in various world conflicts.  The Hungarian Army has officially adopted a new pistol and it was shown off at Shot Show.  It was the Gestamen Arms G9HSP pistol.  This is a innovative pistol that brings modularity to the firing control system in a why that has not been done before.

Much like our previous article, the basement of Shot Show is really where the exciting happenings in the firearm world is on full display.  Small companies and international companies trying to break into the U.S. gun market show off their latest wares each year in the tucked away zone.  One of those companies, Gestaman, put on display their new pistol that was adopted by the Hungarian military the G9HSP Pistol.

They did something truly innovative with their pistols in the world of modular fire control systems.  Instead of making the trigger group modular, they made the action itself modular.  This allows the user to swap their pistol from striker fired, to hammer fired in just seconds.  This brings in a whole world of possibilities with this innovative system by allowing the company to toy with the trigger pull lengths in future iterations.

Mihály Istvánovics who invented the pistol, designed the entire system so it does not require any extra tools.  To swap out the action pieces, one only needs the slide takedown pin to do so.  This kind of design allows people to operate the different systems without the need to bring along any bulky tools or risk looking proprietary tools. The G9HSP is a 9mm pistol sticking with tried and true NATO caliber.

The overall look of the pistol is very “FN” like while holding it feels closer to a Glock frame feel.  The Pistol grip is at a much shallower angle, more in line with its FN counterparts such as the 509.  Overall, it is a very sturdy pistol with and feels great in the hands.  There currently are none of these in the United States as Gestamen is still searching for an import partner to bring this pistol to the market.

2 If By Sea Tactical was built on historical and interesting firearms.  Our 2nd Amendment Museum wall is an example of us putting unusual and historical pieces on display throughout history.   Having seen the G9HSP pistol up close and in person, this is one of those designs that very well could end up in a historical museum sometime in the future.  It is truly an innovative and creative way to add modularity to a design and give customers a two-for-one offering.

We cannot wait to get one of these in our hands here at 2 If By Sea and are planning to offer this to our customers as soon as they are imported to the US.  We also look forward to shooting one of these ourselves and are working with the manufacturer to make this happen.  Rest assured, as soon as we get this opportunity we will do a video on it.  In the meantime, check out our Youtube and Rumble videos with Gestamen from Shot Show. 2026
