Classic Daewoo Returns as SNT Defense Reintroduces Iconic Platform 

 2 If By Sea Tactical was founded on the love for historical firearms.  Ever since I moved to Southern Minnesota, collecting those historical pieces of the past has been a huge passion.  It is what inspired me to get the first FFL license and would send me on a journey that would grow into the company 2 If By Sea Tactical is today.  While attending Shot Show this year, it was awesome to see a company SNT Defense offering one of those historical guns to the general public again.

The K1 rifle from Daewoo became famous due to a photograph of Koreans in Los Angelese defending their business during the Rodney King riots of 1992.  Unfortunately, this rifle was banned from importation and sale not long after these events. The implementation of the Assault Weapons Ban in 1994 would prevent more of these rifles making it to the civilian market.  This would ultimately make the few examples in the United States extremely rare and expensive to obtain.

This is one of those iconic guns that has lived on for collectors like me.  It now gives us a chance to own something that previously we could not obtain.  SNT Defense aims to remedy that.  They made an appearance in 2025 at Shot Show with no real timeline for when the rifle would be available in the civilian market.  However, this year they are looking at Q4 as the time frame to reintroduce the rifle.  Renamed the K2S, SNT aims to make this rare rifle widely available to us in the United States.

This is a super exciting turn of events as we have had no recourse for owning original K2 rifles other than the handful of examples that were already in the United States and on the market before the ban.  Much like the DeLorean in back to the future, the popularity of these rifles came too late to increase supply before the cutoff (or in the DMC’s case bankruptcy) period had come into effect.
