Well, it is finally here, again.  Like a scene from Forrest Gump where he goes to the Whites again and meets the President to the United States again, Glock announces yet another new pistol again.  Officially leaking today there is a Gen 6 Glock coming to the shelves here shortly.  This is after Glock pulled their entire line of Gen 5 pistols for the newly revamped “V” pistols to satisfy California’s “Glock Ban”.

This does bear the question why do all this if you are just going to roll out a new Gen pistol?  That is a question for another day and while we do not have those answers we do have the leaked pictures of the pistol.  Unlike the recent release “V” series these pistols will feature a Optic ready system that appears to be ditching the “Modular Optic System” and going to direct mount.

This biggest external difference Glock fans will notice is the checkering on the pistol grip is drastically different than the Gen 5 models.  This is nothing new with Glock.  Every new generation has featured changes to the pistols checkering.  We hope to get some of these into 2 If By Sea Tactical to see some of these changes.

Finally, the major change that we can see from this release is trigger itself.  Why does it not tell us anything about the internals, if there are major design changes on the inside.  However, the release does show that the pistol features a flat faced trigger.  This will be a change from the standard Glock trigger we all have come to know.

In the end, we are facing some changes from Glock again.  We will have to get our hands on one of these new Gen 6 guns when they arrive.  It will be interesting to see what internals have been changed if any, and what else Glock has cooked up to update their pistol.  We hope it will maintain the same reliability it has become known for.  It will also be interesting to see what happens with the controversial “V” series.  We have written about this before and encourage you to go read it.

There is a chance the “V” series will be a flash in the pan moment for Glock. It may very well become a collectable as Glock moves on to the Gen 6 pistols.  It may also be entirely possible that the “V” series pistol was born out of panic from gun control states and was doomed from the start.  Blast by gun owners as caving to the gun control pressure of a few states and rendered ineffective in fulfilling its purpose within weeks of being released.

The “V” series was designed to “stop” Glock pistols from accepting “Glock Switches” that convert them into fully automatic pistols.  Within two weeks of release, however, a switch was successfully made for this series.  It will be interesting to see if any changes were made to the Gen 6 in their attempt to stop this from happening again.  Most likely, that will also fail in its effort.  For now, we will have to see what Glock has dreamed up in their new pistol.
