The firearm maker KRISS is known for their innovative and iconic weapon platforms.  One does not have to look any farther than the KRISS Vector to find an example of well-designed weaponry.  However, they are reentering the world of handguns with a targeted release of their highly anticipated Kymera pistol this year.  This is an innovative design that continues to bring the world of modularity and customization to handguns.

KRISS has undergone a facelift since the original Swiss company went bankrupt back in 2016.  They have since reopened under new management here in the United States are tasked with bringing the iconic Swiss designs back to the American market.  Thus far, they have been highly successful with the reintroduction of the Vector.  However, KRISS has lacked a handgun line since being brought under new management.  They aim to remedy this with the Kymera pistol.

First teased at Shot Show 2025, the Kymera is a new way to look at modular handgun designs.  The modularity of this pistol is found in the frame itself with multiple parts being easily removable with just a few Allen key screws.  This allows the user to quickly and easily increase or shrink their pistol size to fit their needs, comfort, and capacity desires.  We have seen some similar attempts, like the Archon Type B, to make the pistol frame easily adjustable for the shooter.

What is a bit different and, in this writer’s opinion, nice is only the need for an Allen wrench to accomplish this.  This is a common tool and is easy to use as opposed to a punch set or a proprietary tool that is required by other attempts.  The Kymera is an all metal frame pistol and will be in a 17 or 15 round frame style depending on the length of your chosen pistol grip.  It is hammered fired and feels very similar to the Beretta 92 only a little thinner.

This gives the Kymera a familiar feel to it while maintaining its sturdiness with it’s metal frame.  This is a great feeling gun and one we cannot wait to shoot here in the near future.  KRISS plans on shipping this pistol sometime this year making it a highly anticipated addition to the market.  KRISS continues to push the boundaries when it comes to thinking about the next steps in the firearms industry and we here at 2 If By Sea Tactical cannot wait to offer this to Southern Minnesota.  Be sure to check out our video with the full breakdown the Kymera on Rumble and Youtube.
