Shot Show often offers fun firearms that offer unique takes on classic systems.  Whether it is the FDP from Magpul and Zev Technologies or SNT Defense’s reintroduction of the Daewoo with their renamed K2s, we often see interesting updates to firearms.  Rock Island Armory (RIA) offered on of those this year with its newly released Pak-Out shotgun.  This unique shotgun is built with ease of storage in mind while maintaining familiar ergonomics.

Rock Island Armory is no stranger to the gun market.  They own the Armscor brand of ammunition that offers reliable and relatively inexpensive ammo to the market.  Their 1911 pistols from the Philippines have been a mainstay in the market for those looking for cheaper 1911 style pistols.  They have also been producing or importing shotguns for years.

Now they are introducing the foldable 12 Gauge shotgun.  This comes both in “long” version and a “short” version.  The long version will feature a 18.5” barrel and fold in three places.  It allows a full-size shotgun to fit into a duffle bag or a large backpack.  This could be useful for travel or for backpacking.  It also features a stock that has room for 4 extra shells.

The Pak-Out is a pump action shotgun that has a 4+1 capacity.  It is nice to hold and really fun to deploy quickly.  The shorter version will be more along the lines of the Mossberg Shockwave.  It features a 14.5” barrel and has the end nub to comply with ATF regulations that allows it to be exempt from the NFA shote barrel shotgun prevision.  This version folds in half and is perfect to fit into a backpack for hiking or self-defense.

Both of these versions would be great “truck gun” for self-defense.  These were fun guns to explore at Shot Show, and we look forward to carrying them here at 2 If By Sea Tactical.   While we were at Shot Show 2026, we got an opportunity to talk with John McClain from Armscor/RIA about their newest shotgun.  The Pak-Out was a lot of fun to discuss and we feature them on our Youtube and Rumble channel.  While Mr. McClain has no relation to the Nakatomi Tower incident of 1988, he does think that Mr. McClain would have benefited from this weapons platform.  We are super excited to explore these shotguns and offer them to you!
